Caerlaverock Castle, Dumfries

Just a short drive from Dumfries is the incredibly beautiful Caerlaverock Castle and it’s like something out of a fairytale.

Not only is it completely dog friendly, but you’ll get to explore the grounds and the amazing building itself.

Make your way across the majestic moat and you’re straight in to any period film you care to mention with stunning architecture, views and some very friendly house martins.

There are picnic areas, toilets, tea rooms, gift shop and information centre as well as an entry fee of £5.50 but it is so worth it.

We were lucky enough to discover this magnificent castle on our way to the Highlands and beyond after stopping over in Dumfries at a great little B&B called Glenlossie. It’s more like a hotel with a very friendly family and the dogs loved the breakfast sausages!

We were only there a few hours and I am certain we’ll be back x
