To get the very best out of West Malling’s beautiful country park, it’s best to tackle this one by train and make a day of it.
There is ample parking around the village and within the grounds themselves but getting there from the station lets you explore so much more of the area and if that’s not convincing enough there are five great pubs in and around the High Street!
Go right as you walk out of West Malling station and at the end of the road take a left, another left up Lavenders Road which meanders for a while then a final right down Water Lane and Manor Park is down the road on your left.
You can let the dogs off now and there is plenty to explore and the park has toilets and is tendering for a new café as we speak. We usually do a circuit and that takes us back down to the river and in the background of the photo below you can just see the wooden bridge you need to cross to get to West Malling High Street.
Take this little bridge and it leads down a small path which comes out on to the main road. Turn right and you’re in the heart of the village. We either potter about here for a while or get a picnic and head back to the park.
If you’re heading back to the station then walk down the High Street and turn right down Swan Street and make your way down the very picturesque lane, complete with a waterfall. It’s a very dog friendly and a great place to spend the day or simply have a hoof in style!
