This is Byron admiring the Major Oak at Sherwood Forest and I think all the excitement got to him really. He’s not often seen sporting a cap!
We stopped off on the way back from the Highlands and, thinking it was in Nottingham, spent a wee while tracking it down.
For those of you who aren’t daft, here is the map:
It was a lovely warm and sunny day when we went which did mean it was busy but well worth a look and there is loads to do if you have children.
We weren’t able to stay too long and parking was a couple of quid so there were some grumbles from the driver but charges don’t apply all year round so click here to see if you’ll have to pay.
It made a great little break in our trip and there were lots of facilities too. If you really want to annoy your party just adapt the words to ‘Robin Hood and Little John walking through the forest, laughing back and forth at what the other had to say’ and sing repeatedly…makes the walk speed by!
6 paws out of ten from the doggies – a bit crowded but it was quite shaded on a warm day.0
